Photography for the sake of photography

One of my 2010 resolutions: take pictures even when I’m not being paid to do so. I’ve fallen into a terrible bad habit recently of never shooting for fun or for myself! It’s funny when my friends all assume that because I’m a photographer, I’ll be the one taking pictures wherever we are… yet I don’t even own a point-and-shoot. So, this year, I am trying harder to photograph just because! I’ve had my camera out the past few days documenting the DC Blizzard. I know that many places up north get even more snow than this all the time, but this is a truly unprecedented amount for our area.

I measured just over 2 feet after last Saturday’s storm.

Thank God for neighbors with snowblowers:

I worry about my freshly painted car being constantly buried!

This morning brought us Blizzard #2. I couldn’t even bring myself to go outside today (it’s past 3 pm fyi), so I took these from inside:

Speaking of photography for the sake of photography, at the end of the month Justine will be headed to Haiti with a group of doctors to document relief efforts and spend time helping out. You can read more about her trip on her blog. Justine- we love you and are so proud of what you are doing! Thank you for donating your time and talent to this cause!

UPDATE: Finally ventured outside and I found me some little snow angels :)

Jenni! You’re stealing our Denver winter this year. Great photos, as usual.
