Happy 2010 everyone! Please allow me to welcome you to the brand new Studio Diana blogsite. For those of you who are now thinking “what the heck is a blogsite?” (do you like how I just cleaned up my language for that one?) let me explain a bit. Although more and more photographers these days are opting to show their imagery in blog format rather than the more familiar flash-based website, my great friend Ellen of Identity Kitchen had the idea to combine the gallery/ informational website and blog into one super functional, awesome looking website, powered completely by wordpress. So that’s what she did for us.

What does this mean for us? We can quickly and easily update any of the text or images on the site without having to go back to the design/ programming phases. We have only one site to maintain. And probably the best thing is that it vastly increases the ability of our potential clients to find us through web searches.

So we encourage you to have a peek around to see what we’re all about…and if you’re a bride-to-be or a parent seeking some delightful portraits of your little ones, we’d love to hear from you.

If you’re a photographer, event professional or other small business owner and feel that your business is in need of a makeover, be sure to get in touch with Identity Kitchen to receive 10% your own project. Mention that you are a friend of Studio Diana. This offer expires on January 31st so no time to stall.

A big thank you to Nicole Wolf for the awesome photoshoot she did for us and to Well Dunn for the use of their beautiful location.

September 12th was a super busy day for Studio Diana. I was with Alex and Jim over at the National Museum of Women in the Arts (assisted by Kim Seidl) while Jenni (assisted by Leah Stern) was over at the Reagan Building.

My day started over at the Hotel Monaco with Alex. Just getting there was crazy because of all of the protests. You name it, someone was pissed off and protesting about it and literally right in front of the Monaco, just my luck. Even the valet was shut down because of all of the madness…and I almost ran some lady over with my car…didn’t she know I was on my way somewhere very important? Anyway, after making it there in one piece, Kim and I got to spend the day was some really lovely people.

Some of the talented artists/ companies who helped to make the wedding day amazing were:

Hair: Giselle Chreky
Makeup: Kim Giammaria
Gown: Pronovias
Coordinator: Jessica Tremblay
Caterer: Design Cuisine
Florist: Petal’s Edge
Lighting: John Farr
Video: Monachetti

I loved Alexandra’s fuschia shoes & handbag. These days, why stick with white when you can punch it up with a little bit of color?

A couple of weeks ago, Jenni and I drove down to Charlottesville, VA for the wedding of Liz and Chris, a wonderful couple who were referred to me by Maria & Andrew, whose wedding I shot in 2006.
Anyway, since it was move-in day at UVA, Jenni and I decided to drive down a night early, stay in town and pretend we were in college again…or at least have some dinner and then a leisurely morning. Well the day of the wedding, we left our hotel amidst rain drops and some rather ominous looking clouds to head over to Keswick Hall. And although the outdoor ceremony had to be moved inside, it did clear up long enough for us to go outside for a few fun portraits and despite the dramatic weather, the wedding day went off without a hitch and was just gorgeous all around.

Of course the weekend itself was not without bits of drama. Just before the rehearsal dinner, Chris spilled red wine all over Liz’s cute white sundress. Being the resourceful girl that she is, Liz went into the bathroom and dyed the rest of the dress with a bottle of wine to match (sort of), dried it and put it back on. It actually ended up looking a little bit tie-dyed and quite cute although I’m sure the scent would get to you after a while. :)

But despite the weather and the wine, it really was an amazingly beautiful and fun wedding! Here are some of our favorite images from the day.

Now when it comes to weddings, there’s not a whole lot that I haven’t seen before…but this was one of them. Since Liz’ parents are both remarried, she essentially has 2 moms and 2 dads…so what to do? She had her moms walk her halfway down the aisle who then passed her along to her two dads who walked with her the rest of the way. It was just so incredibly sweet and I admire the way that they all love each other so much.

The canopy of the chuppah was made out of the wedding veils of Liz’s female family members, another incredibly person touch.
