Anyone who knows me knows that I always get nervous leading up to any wedding… I want the best for each of my client’s and I tend to put pressure on myself in order to achieve that. You’d think that shooting a wedding for a friend would involve less pressure considering we know each other and have a history together, but I’m thinking it might be even more nerve-wracking! A few weekends ago, I photographed the wedding for my friends from college, Kerry and Steve. My sister and a number of my friends were all guests at the wedding, and luckily my nervousness subsided quickly and I had an amazing time shooting among them all. We started at the Westfield’s Marriott where the girls prepared:

We headed to a local park afterwards for some bridal party photos. I am IN LOVE with Kerry’s bridesmaid dresses! She was a lucky girl who won a  generous gift certificate to a bridal shop and was able to buy her girls the dress they all really loved.

Kerry and I share an obsession with magenta pink!

After portraits (and a quick recharge at Chick-Fil-A) we headed back to Westfield’s for the cocktail hour and reception. I’ve attended a number of weddings there, but this was my first time actually shooting there.

(I promised my friends I would blog them, so be prepared for a longer reception post than usual!)

Steve wrote and recorded the song they danced their first dance to. And I cried. Because I’m a girl.

So what’s the verdict: can you see the resemblance between my sister and I?:

My video light/night portrait obsession continues (even when it’s a thousand degrees outside like it was that night):

FAVORITE:

Kerry and Steve- thank you for including me on your special day! I had so much fun! Be sure and check out their slideshow to see more and hear Steve’s amazing song for Kerry.

I can’t even remember the last time I blogged! It’s so easy to fall behind when you are shooting every weekend… but I’ve got a bunch of recent weddings lined up and ready to post. The first is Anne and Lucas’s sweet summer wedding at Meadowlark Gardens in Vienna, Virginia. It was a warm sunny day filled with good friends and beautiful light.

Leo Druker helped me out that day and hung out with the guys while I was with the girls:

In an attempt to catch up on some recent shoots, I’d like to share a few photos from Kathryn and Bruce’s engagement session a few weekends ago. We met in Georgetown on a stormy day in DC, and luckily managed to grab some adorable shots of the two of them between downpours! Kathryn and Bruce will be married July 3 at the American Pharmacist Association Headquarters Building. I look forward to joining Amy of Engaging Affairs for their special day!

Bruce- here’s the special photo you requested for your family album:

Hey everyone. I am WAY behind on blogging all of my DC weddings so I guess it’s time to turn the clock back a bit to the end of March to share with you Jane & Mark’s gorgeous wedding day which Jenni and I shot together.

There’s just something so lovely about a wedding that blends classic style with modern sensibility and these two pulled it off flawlessly. Jane paired her mother’s vintage wedding veil with a new gown from Hitched. The couple held their ceremony at Dahlgren Chapel for a traditional, historic feel and The Reagan Building served as the perfect location for a contemporary reception complete with a fresh, modern color palette of black, white and green. Loved every minute of this wedding. Enjoy!
